A CYCLIST has been reunited with his bike weeks after it disappeared from outside a friend’s home in East Oxford.

And the police are now urging anyone else who has had their cycle stolen, including the ones above, to contact them.

Balliol College student Sam Roberts had given up his bike for lost after he realised it was missing from Argyle Street.

But the 19-year-old was reunited with his Giant bike at St Aldate’s police station on Monday where police had matched it with the description he gave them in April.

The bike is one of five recovered by police on April 11.

A 16-year-old, a 15-year-old and a 17-year-old from Rose Hill and a 16-year-old from Barton were arrested on suspicion of theft of bicycles and bailed until July 2.

Of the bikes seized by police three have been returned to their owners, but police officers are still trying to track down the outstanding two cyclists who are without their machines.

Pc Ashley Gardner said: “We’ve got a white MTB Reflex and a silver and purple Carrera mountain bike.

“I urge people to take a photo of their bike and make a note of the frame and make and model.”

Anyone who recognises the bikes pictured should contact Pc Gardner on 101.

  • Free bike security marking sessions will be held in Broad Street, Oxford, between 10am and 4pm on Friday and Saturday.
