Or here's another idea - why don't they all take the asylum seekers in and provide free food, bed & shelter in their homes?

I am sure it is bad in Sudan. They are lucky they are in a country that will look after them.

Does anyone here actually understand just how bad Sudan is at the moment? These people are not on a jolly.

You idiot. They are being 'looked after' by being put - without having committed any crime (!!!), they're not even illegal immigrants - in what is effectively a prison (if you think that's an exaggeration you should go have a look at Campsfield 'House').
"No one actually knows where they're from." What makes you think that? I don't think even the authorities are disputing that they're from Darfur, Sudan.

Dozens of Viets come off lorries on the M40 every month, many looking as old as Ho Chi Minh but all born in 1995. A Social worker attends Banbury nick, has a look and says "nah, not one of ours" because as you know in this uniquely feeble realm Social Services has the responsibility of spending our cash on "yoofs".

If they weren't illegal immigrants, cretin, there would be no question of their status and they'd be living amongst us. They don't have to be in "prison" (!!!!!) they can bu**er off back where they came from, can't they?

'They are being looked after'?! How the hell is being put in what is basically a prison being 'looked after' by any sensible stretch of the imagination. These people are not illegal immigrants and have not had their asylum applications turned down. You have no idea what their passport situation is so don't just assume they're lying
Lord Palmerston, look up Campsfield and other asylum seeker detention centres; the people in them are, factually and undeniably, not illegal immigrants. That's not me saying anything cos I'm some politically correct liberal (I'm neither of those things), it's a legal fact.

OK! I'm certain Campsfield House (and other such centre's) are not in any form a hotel..but I have to question: did they expect to be immediately housed, etc, etc?
Surely they ought to accept that a due process needs to be gone through to establish the validity of their claims!
My issue here is that that the UK seems to be a "soft option" for illegal immigrants (here I'm not disputing the needs of GENUINE asylum seekers)..BUT this is a relatively small island..with ALL it's own problems dealing with issues regarding it's current population. We (the working/tax paying UK public) cannot be expected not to at least question the validity of those seeking to enter the UK!!

You are supposed to seek refuge in your NEAREST safe country, not just flock to the UK because we're soft and hand out the best freebies.
If you draw a line from Sudan to the UK, they would have passed through Libya (dodgy), Italy (perfectly safe), Switzerland (perfectly safe) and France (perfectly safe) before getting to the UK, so there is no reason for them to be here.
In theory, the only refugees we should ever get are Irish and French, and possibly a few other EU countries should France ever become unsafe!
