DALZIEL and Pascoe star Warren Clarke is planning a major fundraising event in aid of East Oxford hospice charity Helen and Douglas House.

Mr Clarke is organising a celebrity golf day at Bicester Hotel, Golf and Spa on Wednesday, October 3.

Teams of three people who sign up to take part will be joined by one of the as yet undisclosed celebrity guests invited by Mr Clarke to help the cause.

Mr Clarke, who recently completed a run in the West End as Winston Churchill in political thriller Three Days in May, said: “This celebrity golf day, now in its ninth year, is great fun and will be raising money for a great local charity.

“I visited Helen and Douglas House last year and was very touched by the amazing work they do to support families with children and young adults with life-shortening illnesses in Oxfordshire and the surrounding areas.”

As well as the main event, there will be a spa-day package available and evening entertainment including a two-course dinner, charity auction and dancing, along with music from Elton John tribute act Ultimate Elton.

Hospice community fundraiser Janet Carruzzo said: “We are delighted that this celebrity golf day is being held in this special year for us, our 30th anniversary year.

“The money raised at this event will help us provide vital specialist symptom and pain management, medically-supported short breaks and end-of-life care, as well as counselling and practical support for the whole family.”
