SEVEN years ago today terrorists killed Miriam Hyman in the July 7 London bombings.

The 32-year-old was one of 52 people killed in the Islamic extremist atrocity.

On Monday, her life will be celebrated in the documentary film Love Hate Love, being screened at the 02 Academy in Cowley Road.

Miriam Hyman’s life story is one of three featured in the documentary which was executive-produced by Hollywood star Sean Penn.

The film tells the story of three families whose lives have been changed forever by acts of terrorism during the past decade.

Today Miss Hyman’s sister Esther, 43, of Cowley Road, Oxford, will gather with family and friends at Golders Hill Park in London to remember Miriam, known as Mim.

Following her sister’s death in the Tavistock Square bus bombing, Esther established the Miriam Hyman Memorial Trust in memory of her sister, and film-goers at the screening will be invited to donate.

She said: “I always try to focus on the positives and how much Miriam loved life.

“Every year we go to the park where we played as kids and climb a tree to remember her.

“I’ve lost Mim in a physical sense but I still feel her presence very strongly. It still feels to me like she is very much around.

“I realised quite soon after she died how futile it would be for me to sit here feeling angry.

“I’ve lived in Oxford since 1989 and Mim loved coming to Oxford for a night out at the Zodiac so it’s appropriate the film is being screened here.”

In May 2008, the memorial trust was established and Miss Hyman decided it should work to establish an eye care centre in India as Miriam was short-sighted.

As a result, funds were raised to build the Miriam Hyman Children’s Eye Care Centre in Bhubaneswar, Orissa. Since it opened in July 2008, there have been 37,300 outpatient appointments, and 3,400 surgeries.

The documentary follows Esther on a moving trip to the eye care centre, which is working to eradicate preventable blindness.

The film is also being shown at three venues in London over the next four days.

The documentary also features the family of Peter Alderman who died in the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center in New York, and Ben Tullipan who lost both his legs in the Bali nightclub bombing in 2002.

  • At the Academy in Oxford, the bar opens at 7pm for an 8pm start and the evening will also feature a question and answer session with Miss Hyman. For details, visit miriam-hyman.com
