3:22pm Monday 9th July 2012 in News
A ROBBER threatened staff at Aldi with a knife this morning and made off with “a substantial amount” of cash in a holdall.
The incident happened at the Botley Road, Oxford, store at about 9am and police still are hunting for the suspect.
The well-dressed man - wearing a suit - entered the store and managed to get into an office where he demanded cash and threatened staff with a blade.
Police spokesman Lucy Billen said he left by the back of the store with a “substantial amount” of money.
The man, who had his dark hair tied up in a ponytail, was described as white, and in his late 20s to early 30s.
He was dressed in a dark suit, with a white shirt and a grey and dark blue striped tie and polished black shoes.
The police have only just released the details of the incident.
Anyone who saw the man running away from the back of the store should call police on 101 or speak to the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
