THOUSANDS of people lined the streets of Bicester to welcome the Olympic torch to town.

Crowds five deep cheered and waved their Union flags to salute the five runners.

The atmosphere was electric as Carly Castle, 32, of Banbury, Simon Cruden, 31, of Kidlington, Tom Rollason, 18, of Deddington, Amie Ing, 15, of Aylesbury, and William Zoghbi, 56, of the USA, raised the flame for onlookers.

Ms Castle said: "It was absolutely amazing. I couldn't believe how many people came out to support us. It was a once in a lifetime experience."

From what I understand, no-one that carried the torch through Bicester was actually from Bicester. Who the hell is William Zoghbi? He's from Houston. Is Bicester twinned with Houston?

It would indeed have been nice to see at least one torchbearer from Bicester. As to Mr Zoghbi, well from what I understand in previous Olympics British torchbearers have been allowed to participate so I think we can expect a few people from other countries in our one.
