TALENTED youngsters burst into song at a surprise “flashmob” at an Oxford shopping centre.

About 60 performers from West Oxfordshire Academy of Performing Arts sang and danced to pop hits in the Clarendon Centre on Saturday, including Dynamite and Moves Like Jagger.

The academy, which meets at Henry Box School in Witney, performed for about five minutes at midday.

Principal Brian Conroy, 50, who runs the arts school with his wife Louise Conroy, said: “There were about 35 adult singers and 25 young performers dancing. We got a great reaction from shoppers.”

The event also had a stand to raise awareness of Charlbury-based charity SpecialEffect , which helps disabled people to enjoy computer games.
