Councillors to debate controversial RAF Bicester base plans

Plans to develop RAF Bicester are to be discussed in the wake of a row between council and defence chiefs over housing plans for the site.

Cherwell District Council director of development Calvin Bell will address the council’s overview and scrutiny committee on Tuesday.

It comes after the authority put out a statement criticising the Ministry of Defence – which is selling the site – for suggesting the council would allow homes there.

The council has consistently ruled out homes and instead backed a museum honouring the former bases’s Second World War heritage.

The committee will meet at the council’s White Post Road, Bodicote offices at 6.30pm.
