Two arrests after derby clash

A man has been arrested on suspicion of throwing a missile at spectators during Wednesday’s Oxford United v Swindon Town match.

The 24-year-old, from Cumnor, was arrested after a flare was discharged during the derby at The Kassam Stadium .

An 18-year-old from Abingdon was arrested in Oxford city centre before the game on suspicion of affray. Both werereleased on bail until October 17.

Police also issued two people with section 27 notices – a direction to leave the area and not return for up to 48 hours – during the evening.

Chief Insp Jim O’Ryan said: “I am pleased that the game passed off with relatively little disruption.”
