Plans for sheltered housing site approved

COUNCILLORS have approved plans to redevelop the Bradlands sheltered housing site in Marston. The Oxford City Council plan will see the current flats demolished and 39 flats for elderly residents built at the Mill Lane site.

East area planning members approved the application last night. Councillors were concerned about the number of car park spaces – 14 – at the site and said parking provision should be reviewed in the future.

Old Marston parish council had raised concerns about the proposal. Chairman Charlie Haynes called the application a “monstrosity” and was concerned at it being in the Old Marston Conservation Area.

People should be careful about how they describe a development...

Do monsters live in a monstrosity?

No, Andrew, the 'monsters' are the people who design and sanction buildings which to others may indeed seem 'monster-house' - which used to be why local authorities had Planning Departments. As for 'Cavalier Cameron ' relaxing the planning laws? Well what do you expect from a Tory-led government which would gladly privatise the NHS, given half the chance.

There are a quite a few laws that need to be "relaxed". Planning and retail opening hours are the first that spring to mind. Every rule, every control, every regulation requires state employees to control them.

It's good to see a politician who is "cavalier", I'm bored of the wet ones who are scared to be noticed.
