Planners against extra hours for pizza delivery outlet

PROPOSALS to extend the hours of a takeaway have been given short-shrift by council planners.

Dominos Pizza, based in residential Buckingham Crescent, Bicester, wants to run a food delivery service until 1am, seven-days-a-week, instead of its current 11pm restriction. But Cherwell District Council ’s planning officers have recommended the application be refused at a planning committee meeting on Thursday.

In a report, officers say extending the shop’s hours would cause a nuisance to neighbours and would be incompatible with a residential area.

Residents have written a series of letters opposing the move.

A previous application in 2010 was refused by officers on the grounds it was harmful to the residential character of the area.

In its latest application, Dominos said it wanted to extend the trading hours due to “public demand for food delivery after 11pm”.

The firm said it would restrict the number of delivery drivers to three after 11pm, and no collections would be available after 11pm.

laughed so hard at the tony baldry story. Looks like domino's is moving then, they must have 20 staff all crammed in that tiny kitchen at one time.

Those 50cc scooters are noisy and very unstable with the great big boxes on the back, I am not surprised this was turned down.

Noisy they certainly are, but unstable they are not at all.

With a couple of large pizzas and maybe two large coke bottles the total load will be what, 10 kg at most. Compare this with the 75 kg weight of the rider, centred just above the seat, and the significant weight of the engine and transmission, centred roughly around axle height. Stability isn't an issue.

THey could make them buy four-stroke bikes which are quieter.

They couldn't as the 16 year olds that delivery them in trainers and tracksuits only have a licence for a 50cc with L plates.

Make it a condition of expansion, then they've got the choice of keeping their exsting hours or paying for CBTs for their drivers and buying some Honda C90s.
