Sam Moscrop
A 24-YEAR-OLD man appeared in court yesterday over an attack outside a takeaway that left a teenager with serious injuries.
Sam Moscrop is accused of inflicting grievous bodily harm on James Busby outside USA Fried Chicken, Corn Street, Witney, on Saturday, August 18.
Moscrop, of Swansfield, Lechlade, Gloucestershire, did not enter a plea when he appeared at Banbury Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
Mr Busby, 19, from Aston, near Bampton, suffered serious head injuries in the incident.
Moscrop will appear before the court again on November 5 where his case will be transferred to crown court.
Mohammed Sheikh, prosecuting, told the court the victim suffered multiple fractures to his jaw and swelling on the brain. Doctors put him in a medically-induced coma for several days to aid his recovery, he said.
Mr Sheikh said: “The last thing he remembers is being on holiday in Greece.”
Chairman of the bench Christine Dawson said the court was refusing jurisdiction to hear the case and it must go to crown court.
Mr Busby, a former pupil at Henry Box School, works at Fat Lil’s bar, in Corn Street, and at GSM Industrial Graphics, in Station Lane.
