BRAZILIAN carnival group Sol Samba climbed Oxford’s castle mound to flag up a city festival next month.
The mound was taken over by the Oxford group Sol Samba on Sunday to promote the Oxjam Oxford Takeover.
From October 13 the city will play host to a number of local bands.
The Takeover is part of Oxjam— Oxfam’s month long music festival — and will be headlined by five-piece psychedelic band ‘Fixers’. Last year the charity took over four city centre venues with more than 25 local acts, and this year looks set to match its success. Takeover manager Katie Herring said: “We marched around the castle and played a gig on top of the mound. It was great, there were loads of people dancing.
