THE sights and sounds of the fairground have hit Witney as the annual Feast rolled into town.

The 769-year-old event kicked off over the weekend with celebrations at St Mary’s Church but yesterday the two-day fair began in earnest.

Families were treated to white knuckle fairground rides, casual carousels and entertainment.

Sam Adams, 36, of Witney, who went along with her family, said: “It has been really good – very busy and lots of screaming.

“The highlight has been seeing the kids with smiles on their faces and enjoying it.” Her daughter, Ellouise, five, said: “It is really exciting.

“I have enjoyed eating doughnuts and going on all the rides the most.”

Witney resident Rachel Way, 47, said: “It was lovely. We have been most years and the kids really enjoy it and like going on the rides.”

Her daughter, Rosie, five, said: “I really enjoyed the Twister and the roller coaster.”
