POLICE have shut off an M40 slip road near Bicester after a chemical barrel was found in the road.
Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service is currently assessing the metallic drum and the southbound entry road at Junction 9 will be closed until further notice.
Thames Valley Police Insp Mick Park said: "A chemical barrel has fallen and it is on the hard shoulder.
"If we have any obstacle on the carriageway which could be some sort of a hazard to the public we will always take necessary action."
