A STREET dance group has breakdanced, flipped and somersaulted its way to winning a national competition.

Pink Noize, which is based in Cassington, won the under-14 newcomer category in the United Dance Organisation World Street Dance Championships 2012.

India McDiarmid, 13, is pictured performing a flip with the rest of the group.

Dancer Francesca Marks, 13, of Eynsham, said: “We didn’t know what the judges thought and when they announced the winners it was a feeling I can’t even describe. It felt really good inside.”

The 17-strong junior dance group, which has only been together a year, won the competition in Blackpool in late August. It is part of dance school Step 2 Dance, which has 380 students.

The group will perform in Marriotts Walk Shopping Centre in Witney all day on Saturday, October 6.
