Experts' royal rainforest visit

Experts from Oxford helped brief the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge before their tour of the Malaysian jungle.

The royal couple were hoisted 42 metres up into the rainforest canopy to see the Borneo eco-system.

William and Kate were briefed about the area on Saturday by Malaysian and British scientists, including Dr Owen Lewis from Oxford University and Dr Glen Reynolds, director of the Royal Society’s South East Asia research programme.

After descending the giant parashorea tomentella tree, the Duke and Duchess met representatives and academics from Raleigh International, Summertown-based Earthwatch, and Oxford University.
