DANCERS jived, quick-stepped and fox-trotted to 1940s grooves over the weekend.
About 100 people attended the 1940s-style tea dance at Benson Parish Hall on Sunday.
Dancer David Bushnell, 51, from Newbury, said: “It was absolutely brilliant. A lot of people made the effort to turn up in the 1940s style.
“It was very well planned and the venue was made out in the old tea dance style.
“It is a very social event – we have built up quite a few close friends from these dances – and it is a bit of exercise as well.”
‘Landgirl’ Sarah Clark of Jive Temptation which organised the event, said: “About 80 per cent of the dancers came in costume. We had people dressed in military and navy costumes and one guy dressed as Charlie Chaplin.
“It was excellent fun. We just love doing it and there is nothing better than seeing a room full of people enjoying themselves.”
Jive Temptation holds regular tea dances in the area.
