Chippy tunes up for day of jazz
CHIPPING Norton will come alive to the sound of trumpets, upright basses and saxophones during the the annual jazz festival.
The 15th annual Chippy Jazz and Music day takes place at venues around the town on Sunday.
The day of live music will begin with a folk gospel and blues style church service at St Mary’s Church in Church Street at 10.45am, followed by music in the Market Place and in pubs, cafes and the Town Hall.
Organiser Mike Howes said: “It’s going to be a great day. We’re all looking forward to having fun and there’s a range of music to cover all tastes.”
The day will culminate with a medley of 1920s, 30s and 40s jazz at the Town Hall from 7.45pm. Tickets for this concert cost £15 for adults, £10 for under 16s.
The festival, organised by the Rotary Club, will raise money for Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance, St Mungo’s, Riding for the Disabled and Rotary Charities.
