Officers could be armed with tasers for their own protection

MORE police officers could be armed with tasers for protection.
Thames Valley Police Chief Constable Sara Thornton said the force started looking at the measure due to a rise in violence against officers across the region.
At a press briefing today she said: "It's being going up in the last few years and I'm concerned about it."
A report is due to be published in December and public consultation will follow.

Ms Thornton said the review had been launched before two police women were killed in Manchester this month.
