24-hour opening at McDonald’s?
9:30am Thursday 4th October 2012 in News
OXFORD: McDonald’s has applied for permission to keep its restaurant in Cornmarket Street open 24 hours a day.
It has applied to Oxford City Council for a change to its planning permission which prevents it from being open from 3am until 6am.
In its application the company said it did not expect any impact on community safety.

As for the litter produced, it is in direct proportion to the sales the outlet makes. I can't see a huge uplift in sales for the hours of 0300-0600 so neither can I see a large increase in litter. If there is, why not include McD's in the new city centre late-night levy?

To my mind there are already 8 food and or Alcohol stores open 24 hours within the Oxford City boundary so McDs is hardly a problem.
Wot a 'King Joke' indeed - retail outlets opened 24 hours every day, just to keep nocturnal students and tourists happy! The 'City of Dreaming Spires' is fast-food becoming 'diss-ney-landed on Thames' and can only be a matter of time before we see '£-world around the clock' and all-night lettings agents catering for Oxford's thousands of poor and homeless - or will Oxford's trade unions allow these to be employed as under-paid slaves for the bad-food culture? It will also mean even more presure on City Council's hard-pressed cleansing and rubbish collection folk, the Police and PCSOs, and how Council Tax money is spent.
