THE MP for Banbury Sir Tony Baldry has officially been knighted by the Prince of Wales.

Sir Tony’s honour was announced in the Queen’s Birthday Honours early this year, and he received the honour at a ceremony yesterday.

The Conservative MP received the knighthood from Prince Charles at an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle.

Sir Tony was given the honour for services to political and public life, Speaking when the knighthood was announced, he said: “I am very proud to have been made a knight, particularly in the Birthday Honours of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee year.

“All the work in which I am involved as an MP, from campaigns on the Horton Hospital, to campaigns with the churches, are team efforts, and I hope that I will always be an effective advocate for such campaigns.”

Mr Baldry was joined at the ceremony by British cookery writer Mary Berry, who received a CBE.
