MODELLER Martin Claridge took his carousel for a spin at the Witney Model and Miniature Steam Rally.

Mr Claridge, 45, from Cowley, was among 80 exhibitors on Saturday at the rally at The King’s School, in New Yatt Road, Witney.

There were models of all kinds, including miniature steam engines, tractors, motorbikes and cars.

Father-of-two Mr Claridge, a cleaner at Templars Square shopping centre in Cowley, said: “I got into modelling a couple of years ago and it’s a great hobby — modellers are a really friendly bunch.

“I bought my model carousel last year for about £500 and earlier this year I showed it at the Witney Feast Fair. I have also made another miniature carousel.

“Lots of children came along to see all the different models. There must have been about 300 people throughout the day.”

Mr Claridge said the annual fair had previously been staged at the town’s Henry Box School.

Witney Model Club member Michael Hickson was also among the exhibitors, while James Roche, four, and brother Lawrence Roche, two, were among youngsters enjoying a tour of the exhibits.
