David is a lecturer in International Development in the politics department at Leeds University.
He has spent time researching poverty, famines, democracy and good governance in India and Malawi and is currently writing a book on contemporary South Asia.
He has advised the media and development organisations on these issues, as well as advising party spokesmen on international development. He has also worked as a fundraiser.
He has been a member of the executive of the Westminster Borough, Leeds North West and, currently, Camden Borough parties.
