A flood fair advising residents on how to prevent their homes from flooding is to take place in Oxford this week.

The fair organised by the Environment Agency and the National Flood Forum will allow communities to receive expert advice on what measures they could introduce to improve the flood resilience of their homes and teach people how to develop a home or business flood plan.

It will also allow people to sign up for the EA's free Floodline Warnings Direct service which aims to give householders at least two hours notice of flooding.

The event follows on from a previous EA flood fair in Oxford in November 2007.

EA flood incident manager Kate Vincent corr said: "We are really pleased to be able to support this fair. It is another opportunity for residents to find out from the experts how to increase the resilience of their homes during flooding."

The fair takes place at The Kings Centre, Osney Mead on Thursday July 17 between 2.30pm to 7pm.
