MORE than 1,000 people have voiced their opinions on a proposed controlled parking scheme for Rickmansworth.
Three Rivers District Council sent out more than 7,000 leaflets detailing the scheme and inviting residents to have their say.
At a meeting of the full council on Tuesday, April 15, executive member for the physical environment Councillor Martin Trevett said he was pleased with the level of response, although he added it was too early to give any indication of support for the scheme.
The scheme is expected to be discussed at a meeting of the executive committee next month.
Proposals being considered would improve residential parking and maintain short stay parking, while controlling commuter parking.
Suggested features would include the creation of a controlled parking zone in and around the town centre with residents living within this zone issued with permits for parking between 8.30am and 6.30pm, from Monday to Saturday.
Other proposals include introducing charges for long-stay car parks although short stay car parks would remain free of charge.
