THE COUNCIL'S underfire flytipping removal programme acted to refute allegations that they are a farcical waste' of money, by storming to a truly rubbish record - and laying the blame firmly on the yobs that leave the mess.

There were two incidences of fly tipping brought to the attention of the Times last week. The Faggs Road section of the A312, which The Evening Standard also picked up on, castigating it's dreadful state and the way the clean up operation had been handled, and The Ringway, by the junction with North Hyde Lane, in Heston, where a broken vacuum cleaner, an old mattress and rotting wood were left in broad daylight.

But this week, over the Easter Monday night, fly-tippers have gone one step further and dumped a huge load of bursting bin bags and cardboard boxes full of waste on Staines/ Lampton Road junction just by Hounslow High Street near Yate's Wine Lodge. An appalled local said the waste was fully 10 by 30 ft wide''.

The council, who last week refuted accusations that their clean up programme was a farcical waste of money and laid the blame firmly at the door of the people who dumped the waste, cleaned the mess up in record time' clearing the road by by midday on Tuesday April 22nd.

Cllr Ruth Cadbury said: People complain that it's the council's fault when the streets are a mess, but litter and fly tipping is done by people and then the council has to find the money and resources to clean it up. We are generally trying to raise the ante on fly tipping, and are trying to stop it happening in first place, as it is hard to get prosecutions.''

She continued: We hope the public will help us to stop this disgusting practice. If the general public are aware, and report sightings, it will help change the general mentality of dropping rubbish in public places, whether its a sweet wrapper or lorry-load, it's all littering.''

A council spokeswoman also said of the mess: It is a complete waste of tax payers' money, and it is appalling that people can't be bothered to dispose of their waste properly. The only people to suffer because of this are the law abiding tax payers.''
