AN 18-YEAR-OLD man who used a knife to demand money from a Whitton shop-keeper last Saturday evening, but was disturbed when they pushed the sweet counter over him, is being sought by police this week.

On April 26th at 8.25pm at Mui off license, 188 Kneller Road, Whitton, the shop assistant was working at the front of the shop serving a customer when a man entered and walked away from the till towards the second aisle.

There was only one customer in the shop at the time. The man wandered about the store, left and waited outside until the sole customer had left.

He then went back inside the shop and approached the till and asked for a packet of Sovereign cigarettes. He reached into his pocket as if to get his wallet, but instead pulled out a kitchen knife which he pointed at the shop assistant and shouted at him to hand over all the money.

The shop assistant pushed the sweet display over on him and pressed the alarm.

The man then ran out of the shop and turned right into Hounslow Road. A witness who was walking along Kneller Road heard the alarm and saw a man who they believed to be the suspect running from the direction of the shop and jumping into a grey or silver Vauxhall vehicle.

The vehicle turned into the Hounslow Road and headed towards Whitton and was being driven by a white man with short hair.

The man is described as 18--years- old, Asian, 5ft 7ins tall wearing a grey hooded top with the hood up. Anyone with any information relating to this incident is asked to call DS Colin Jones at Twickenham Crime Squad on 8247 7142.
