Patients requiring urgent treatment will not be able to go to Kingston's accident and emergency department for one day next week due to a lack of electrical power whilst a new scanner is installed.

Kingston Hospital's Accident and Emergency Department will close for 12 hours, from 6am to 6pm next Friday (April 12th).

The closure is due to a lack of electrical power in the department during this time to facilitate essential electrical works which will enable the installation of a new replacement CT scanner.

The hospital regrets this inconvenience and asks that anyone needing A&E treatment during this 12-hour period go to another hospital. If your injury is minor, go to the the Minor Injuries Unit at Teddington Memorial Hospital in Hampton Road Teddington which is open 8am-8pm and 10am to 4pm on Sundays and can be reached on 8408 8224. You can also be seen at the Minor Injuries Treatment Centre in Queen Mary's Hospital, Roehampton Lane, Roehampton SW15 5PN , they can be reached on 8355 3002. Here, however, they do not treat shoulders and knees or children under two- years-old or children with eye problems.

The ambulance service and local GPs and hospitals have also been informed.
