More than a dozen people jumped off Magdalen Bridge, Oxford, this morning - once the road was reopened following May Morning celebrations.
Police manned a cordon across the bridge from about 4.30am while thousands of revellers gathered to listen to the choir at the top of Magdalen Bridge.
No one attempted to break through the cordon, although a number of people jumped into the River Cherwell after the barriers were removed.
Police said about 8,000 people attended the celebrations.
Supt Andy Murray, Area Commander, said: “We had 30 police officers who were on duty throughout the night and early morning.
They worked closely with the ambulance service, fire service and stewards who were there to ensure the public’s safety. There were no injuries and only one person was arrested for a minor public order offence.
I am sure the 8,000-plus crowd enjoyed the May Morning Celebrations.”
