College’s new board to meet parents

AN interim governing board is to meet staff and parents at Bicester Community College to set out plans to improve the school.

The Department for Education last week gave Oxfordshire County Council permission to sack the school’s governing board.

It came weeks after the school was put into special measures after a damning Ofsted report.

Inspectors gave the school bottom marks on pupil achievement, quality of teaching, behaviour and management.

A new five-strong interim executive board, led by chairman Bob Wintringham, was put in place to oversee the Queens Avenue school and set up a new governing body.

In a statement Mr Wintringham said: “We will now begin the process of meeting with staff and parents to gain a firm understanding of the issues so we are able to move forward positively.

“Clearly, the most important thing is to take stock of the situation, and it is vital that we gather the thoughts and views of those most associated with the school so we are able to develop and then set out a plan for the future.”
