OXFORD’S annual celebration of fashion has been postponed in a bid to make the event bigger and better.

The announcement comes as Oxford Fashion Week took over the Ashmolean Museum on Friday for a monthly LiveFriday event.

Carl Anglim, the director of Oxford Fashion Week, said the event would not take place in November as had been expected.

It will now be staged next March and he is preparing to relaunch the extravaganza.

He said: “I recently returned to the organisation and we are now looking at holding Oxford Fashion Week in March.

“We are talking to all the organisations involved in Oxford Fashion Week and reorganising it. That’s why we are taking a bit more time over this.

“The week itself will be bigger and more developed, and will involve more organisations.”

Oxford Fashion Week was started by Mr Anglim in 2009 and features a range of events held at venues such as the Ashmolean, Town Hall and the Sheldonian Theatre.

On Friday about 1,500 people attended Dress Up LiveFriday, which saw the Ashmolean’s galleries brought to life with elements of fashion and art from different eras.

The show included a style blogger showcase in which the audience received tips from internet writers who follow different looks from the season.

It also featured a runway show involving 46 models.

Stylist Kylie Davis, who did the models’ hair, said: “Dress Up LiveFriday was a pleasure. Our team delivered exceptional results, there was a great atmosphere and we had a fantastic time.”

Oxford and Cherwell Valley College was represented through an exhibition of work by its students, inspired by rural England.

Mr Anglim said: “We are entering into an incredibly exciting period for Oxford Fashion Week. We are looking forward to releasing exciting plans for the creative industries in this region and continuing to attract creative industry to this region.”

“We would love to hear from all people and organisations that want to be a part of our future.”
