Van diesel leak checked by fire crews
Firefighters have been dealing with an incident in West Oxford this morning.
Fire crews were called about 11am to Ferry Hinksey Road, off Botley Road, following a suspected diesel spill involving a vehicle in a parking area next to Oatlands Road recreation ground.
A spokesman for Oxfordshire Fire Service said about 10 firefighters were called to tackle a diesel spill from a white transit van and cordoned off the car park.
One firefighter, who asked not to be named, said: "We have come down here as a precaution – there’s a van – it could be full of diesel – so until we know any more we are staying belt and braces."
Ferry Hinksey Road has been closed in both directions while firefighters tackle the spill.
It is not thought that anyone has been hurt in the incident.
No-one from Thames Valley Police was available for comment.
