OXFORDSHIRE has been warned today to remain prepared for more flooding.

With more rain set to fall today, a series of flood warnings are in place for the county, including one for Oxford, where several sites are waterlogged this morning.

Oxford City Council officials are at the scene of flooding on Ferry Hinksey Road (pictured below) this morning near the Oatlands Recreation Ground.

Oxford Mail:

The Environment Agency says the River Thames and its tributaries at New Botley, New and North Hinksey and Grandpont in Oxford are all under flood warning.

The River Windrush at Witney and Ducklington - down to and including nearby Hardwick - is another area with a flood warning in place.

Flood warnings are also in place for:

- the River Thame in the Dorchester and Overy areas

- the River Thames from Days Lock down to South Stoke, including Dorchester-on-Thames and Overy, Shillingford, Benson, Wallingford, North Stoke and Moulsford

- the River Thames from Buscot Wick down to Shifford, including Buscot, Kelmscott, Radcot, the Lower Bampton area and the Chimney area

- the River Thames from Henley down to Medmenham, including Remenham and Mill End

- the River Thames from Shiplake to Bolney Court near Henley, including Lower Shiplake and Wargrave.

In those areas where warnings are in place, officials say flooding is expected and householders and businesses should take immediate action to protect themselves.

The Environment Agency is warning people in Oxfordshire to remain prepared for flooding as peak flows move along the Thames.

"There is the possibility of significant flooding in the lower reaches," the agency said in a statement today.

The Met Office says there will be sunshine and scattered blustery heavy showers, with a chance of hail and thunder.

Many places will have largely dry morning, before showers become more widespread later.

Road closures are in place for the following areas:

- Islip - Lower Road and Mill Road closed because of flooding. The route through the village is now via Kings Head Lane, which is under traffic signal control

- London Lane, Ascott-under-Wychwood due to flooding

- Barford Road between Barford St John and Barford St Michael closed due to flooding

- B478 at Play Hatch, near Henley

- A417 at Challow, by Mellors Garage, due to flooding

- The road to Woodeaton Village from B4027 to Elsfield/ Marston Junction

- Clifton Hampden to Long Wittenham (High Street)

Sandbags are dotted at many properties and businesses in the county.

Sanbags have been made available in the city at Seacourt and Redbridge Park and Ride sites.

Sand bag pallets were yesterday delivered to the Duke of Monmouth public house on Abingdon Road and also South Hinksey Village (at the farm opposite the village hall).

The county council website this morning says:

"Anyone living in an area liable to flood can collect bags as part of their preparations.
"A number of tow-paths are also closed and people are being urged to obey any warning or closure signs whether they are on roads or tow-paths."
