RESIDENTS of an Oxford estate celebrated its 80th birthday in style with a 1930s-themed tea dance.
Florence Park residents met at the community centre in Cornwallis Road on Saturday to kick off a year of celebrations.
Oxford Spires Academy pupil Helen Woods, 12, attended with her mum, Emily Marshall, and friend Freya Goozee, 12.
She said: “It was really good fun. I enjoyed learning a new dance, because we had never tried anything like that before.
“There were lots of people from our area there.”
Ms Marshall, 48, who has lived on the for three years, said: “I helped organise the event. It was good to see people dressed up for the evening.
“The community centre is a great resource and gets used by lots of local groups.”
The estate was built to meet growing demand for family housing following the expansion of the William Morris car factory and the Oxford Steel Company.
