CARTERTON residents will be encouraged to do their bit to improve the environment next week.

Carterton Town Council is staging Carterton Goes Green Week, with the help of West Oxfordshire District Council recycling officer Sian Stokes from Monday to Saturday.

Events include a litter pick setting off from the town hall, in Alvescot Road, on Monday from 10am to noon, followed by refreshments and bike security marking at the town hall until 2pm.

On Tuesday there will be a recycling roadshow at Tower Court, in Alvescot Road, where free recycling boxes and food caddies will be handed out from 10am to 1pm.

The Love Food, Hate Waste campaign will be promoted at the market in the town centre on Thursday, with free recipe books, reusable bags and tips on how to cut food waste available from 10am to 1pm.

Recycled compost will be given away at Alvescot Road recreation ground on Friday from 10am to 1pm, with compost bins available at discounted prices.

On Saturday there will be a swap-shop and craft event at Brown’s Hall, from 10am to 3pm, with sewing and embroidery tuition available.
