A BENEFITS cheat has been ordered to do 120 hours of unpaid community work after dishonestly claiming more than £8,800.

Yawahab Badmus admitted dishonestly claiming housing and council tax benefit between July 2010 and September 2012 and dishonestly trying to claim the same benefits between September 2012 and March 2012.

Badmus, of Hockmore Tower in Cowley, also admitted failing to declare an increase in earnings between July 2010 and September 2012 and making false representations between September 2012 and March 2013.

The 48-year-old was sentenced at Oxford Maigstrates’ Court earlier this month after pleading guilty in June.

He was ordered to pay Oxford City Council back all of the £8,817.67 he was overpaid and £120 in court costs.
