A 30-YEAR-OLD has been jailed after beating his ex-girlfriend so badly that he was covered in her blood when he answered the door to police, Oxford Crown Court heard.

Martin Potter, of Lamb’s Crescent, Banbury, admitted one count of assault that caused actual bodily harm and breaching a restraining order on June 14 this year. Unyime Davies, prosecuting, said officers were called after a neighbour heard the woman screaming.

The barrister added Potter had been banned from seeing his victim by a restraining order after an earlier attack.

She was left with two black eyes, bruising to her head, face, neck and arms, as well as cuts to her eye and lip that required a total of 10 stitches.

Yesterday Judge Ian Pringle handed Potter 16 months in prison for assault, eight months for breaching the restraining order, making a total of two years, and £120 victims’ surcharge.
