CHANGING the world through the power of wallpaper is top of the agenda at Cornerstone Arts Centre, Didcot.

Artist Samatha Wadham, 24, has put a twist on traditional wall coverings with her Interior Growth exhibition using paper, painting, film and metalwork.

The Didcot artist said: “It champions floral design but should also make people think about the world they live in. If there was less fighting and less pessimism we could all live better lives. The metalwork part of the exhibit shows how we should work together and be more entwined with each other.

“I want to make people think about how they can make a better world just through making small changes in their own lives.”

The exhibition looks at how society views the working class, and challenges visitors to think about whether they view people as blossoming flowers or unwanted weeds. Ms Wadham said: “The Didcot show also focuses on how different styles of wall covering have gone in and out of fashion over the years.

“I have been doing this sort of art for about three years now and I keep developing it following on from what I did at university, where it formed part of my degree show.”

The exhibition runs until August 16 and entry is free.
