The mother of a former Oxford United player left with brain damage has complained to the Metropolitan Police after two serving officers went into business with one of his attackers, it has been reported.

Senior Met officers have reportedly begun a probe after they were contacted by Maggie Hughes, mother of Robbie Hughes, who was assaulted in Crete in 2008.

She said Pc Glen Oliver and Pc Leanne Henery were running a gym with Daniel Bell, who was convicted of attacking her son, a newspaper reported.

Curtis Taylor, Daniel Bell and Sean Branton, from Horley in Surrey, and Joseph Bruckland, from Hookwood in Surrey, were convicted of grievous bodily harm but not jailed.
