TWO turkeys destined for a Christmas dinner plate were saved after an online poll by radio station JACKfm.

Sage and Onion – two birds at Callow Farm, near Stonesfield – were spared after 67 per cent voted to let them live.

The birds will now go to an animal sanctuary in Essex.

The poll had been condemned by both the RSPCA and Queen guitarist Brian May.

JACKfm programme director Tim Parker said: “The response has been phenomenal.”
