THE man accused of burning down council offices in South Oxfordshire appeared in court today.
Andrew Main, 47, appeared via video link from Bullingdon Prison at Oxford Crown Court and spoke only to confirm his name.
He is charged with two counts of arson with intent to endanger life and two counts of arson reckless as to whether life was in danger.
The four charges relate to fires on January 15 at the South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse district council offices and a funeral parlour, both in Crowmarsh Gifford, and a thatched cottage in Rokemarsh.
Judge Ian Pringle adjourned his case for psychologists to decide whether Main, of Braze Lane, near Roke Marsh, was fit to stand trial.
He told his defence team to prepare a psychological assessment and report back to the court on March 27 for another administrative hearing, but set May 26 as a date for a fitness to plea hearing. Main will remain in prison.
