A 34-YEAR-OLD will appear in court tomorrow accused of murdering the man found fatally wounded in a car in Barton.

Rafal Stawski, of Mayfair Road, Oxford, appeared at Oxford Magistrates’ court on Saturday and was remanded in custody to appear at the Crown Court on Tuesday.

Stawski was charged with murder after Wojciech Ryniak was found bleeding from the chest in a red Mazda in North Way, Barton, late on Tuesday night.

Mr Ryniak died in hospital of his injuries the following day.

It is understood Mr Ryniak was originally from Poland and his family are due to come to the UK in the next week.

A 31-year-old from Oxford was also arrested on suspicion of murder, but will face no further action on that charge, police said.

Thames Valley Police did not release any information about him when asked by the Oxford Mail.

The charge came after police activity was seen to be stepped up at around a house on the corner of Mayfair Road and Hillsborough Road, Cowley, on Friday evening. The home, which was under police guard, was first cordoned off on Thursday, but on Friday approximately ten officers returned to re-examine the scene.

A tent set up outside a house in neighbouring Kelburne Avenue was also under police guard on Friday.

A Hillsborough Road resident, who did not want to be named, said: “I think the house is rented, but I don’t know who lives there. We don’t see many neighbours except those next door.”

Another Hillsborough Road resident, who also did not want to be named, said: “There has been a constant police presence and they have been doing lots of detailed searches all around the house, and up and down the street.

“They brought in a special team. We don’t know the people who live in the house, but it does seem to change a lot.

“There were three police officers there all the time and lots of others turning up during the day.

“They first arrived on Thursday morning, but we didn’t know what they were looking for.”

Thames Valley Police spokesman James Williams would not say if police had found a suspected murder weapon, but did say they believed Mr Ryniak was stabbed in Mayfair Road.
