Police today revealed that officers who cordoned off part of a street in Witney yesterday were investigating two assaults.
Thames Valley Police spokeswoman Hannah Jones said officers were called to Corn Street during the early hours of Saturday following a report that a man in his twenties had been assaulted shortly before 2.30am.
She added that he was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford after suffering minor injuries.
Mrs Jones said: "While officers were dealing with this it transpired a second man, also in his twenties, had been assaulted and suffered ear injuries."
Andrew Harold said on Twitter that police officers taped off an area of pavement after arriving in the street.
A member of staff at Velo Specialist Cycles in Corn Street, who asked not to be named, said he saw police officers opposite the store at about 9am and they remained there for about two hours.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101.
* A 17-year-old boy was arrested in connection with the assaults and bailed until September 27.
