AN AUDIENCE experienced the traditional tales of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland and musical fable Peter and the Wolf in a slightly different way at this year’s Oxford Chamber Music Festival.
The Holywell Music Room in Holywell Street filled with the sweet sound of strings on Thursday, taking listeners on a musical journey of the children’s classics.
Actor Paul Ansdell, who narrated the concert tales, said: “I was drafted in last minute to narrate Peter and the Wolf which is a fantastic piece.
“It appeals to children and adults alike with themes of good versus evil and good always being triumphant.
“Each instrument is so pertinent to each animal and character that it brings it alive in a way which is magical and extraordinary.”
