CHILDREN from Bletchingdon Primary School had a special visit from the Bishop of Dorchester on Thursday to mark a month since moving to their new site.

The school, in Station Road, Bletchingdon, opened its doors to children on September 3 after moving from its previous site in Weston Road during the summer.

The Rt Rev Colin Fletcher blessed the new building and a memorial to a former member of staff, Sheila Stockwell who passed away last year.

Headteacher Louise Hatton said: “The children have settled in so well. Staff and pupils came into this project as one and finally we are reaping the rewards.

“The important thing has been having more space and more areas for the children to play in.”

The school, along with a new village hall, cost £4 million to build, with the community coming together to help meet the sum.

Vikki Robins, 47, from the Bletchingdon Community Foundation, said: “We’ve all been delighted by how the first term has gone so far.”
