INDIE rock band Foals have had to cancel tour dates in South America and Mexico due to the lead singer suffering from voice problems.

Frontman of the Oxford band Yannis Philippaki said they're “gutted” to have to cancel the shows, after being ordered by doctors to rest his voice.

The group had been due to play in Peru, Brazil, Chile, Argentina and Mexico this week but have rescheduled to next July.

Mr Philippakis wrote on Twitter on October 6: "I'm so sorry to say that on doctor's orders we are unable to perform this week. We're gutted & can't begin to say how frustrating this is.

"We love nothing more than playing on stage for you & it’s heartbreaking to have to pull the shows but sometimes health has to come first."

They've said the UK dates coming up shouldn't be affected.
