A BLITZ on dastardly dog mess blighting an Oxfordshire village took place after residents organised their own scoop-up.

Villager Cynthia Bulpitt rallied together the troops for her brush up of Grove Rugby Football Club’s pitches after becoming frustrated with the growing amount of dog mess seen in the area.

Residents united at the Cane Lane club yesterday for the morning sweep up, bringing along their much-loved canine pets.

Grandmother-of-three Mrs Bulpritt, of Princess Gardens, said: “It went well, I’m very pleased. I want people to know that I am serious. It affects everyone.”

Families declaring action on the unsightly dog poo included Storm Dinsey, her ten-year-old daughter Milly, eight-year-old son Bertie and husband Niki, who is youth chairman of Grove Rugby Football Club.

Nanny Mrs Dinsey said her family, who have an 11-year-old golden retriever called Sienna, have been forced to scoop up between 10 and 15 lumps of mess every Sunday when Bertie goes to play rugby at the club.

The 41-year-old, of Wantage, added: “The big scoop was to make people aware that the pitches are for playing. It’s horrendous.

“I would not even dream of doing that. You just think of how many children play regularly on these pitches every week, it’s just madness. If you own a dog, it’s your responsibility to pick up the mess.”
