IT’S been a glittering month of Movember for Daniel Wells.

Mr Wells was roped into joining the annual men’s charity fundraiser by work colleagues at British Gas.

So well did his moustache grow that friends suggested he also grow sideburns in the style of film character Wolverine, and then nicknamed him “the friendly Mutton Chops”.

But as the end of the month approached his sponsorship was stuck at £40 as he was competing with several other work-based fundraising initiatives.

So he and his wife Debbie, both 34, put their heads together and came up with a glitter plan.

Mother-of-two Mrs Wells said: “He had only managed to raise about £40 – we were talking about maybe dyeing it, then a friend sent us some pictures of a guy who grew a beard and put glitter in it. We decided to try it – since then he has managed to raise an additional £150.”

Mr Wells, an IT project manager, said work colleagues were doing a “double take” when he walked past, while others took pictures to tell their children he was one of Santa’s Elves.

The Witney resident added: “When I walk around the light catches the glitter – it’s quite impressive. It does make something that’s already itchy, a bit more itchy.

“The response has been great and I keep being stopped everywhere I go.

“Never thought it would be shared online or in a newspaper. It’s been great to raise some extra donations and awareness about men’s health.”

The couple’s three-year-old daughter Jessica said of her daddy’s moustache: “I like it.”

A picture of Mr Wells’ glitter moustache has been shared on Facebook and a men’s grooming products company Mankind picked his for the weekly prize for best facial hair.
