A MAN hurled racial abuse at a woman driver as she sat in her car in Didcot.

The bully targeted a 49-year-old woman yesterday as she drove towards lower Broadway, storming up to the side of her car and shouting at her.

She jumped out of her car to follow him up Broadway after the verbal attack just after midday, but he turned off towards Hayden Road.

Thames Valley Police issued an appeal for witnesses this afternoon.

Investigating officer PC Jonathan Morley, from Didcot Police Station, said: “This was obviously a very upsetting and concerning incident for the victim who was racially abused.

“I would appeal to anyone with information to come forward, particularly if you saw an incident of harassment in the vicinity of lower Broadway, or saw a man similar to the one described in that area."

The man was described as white, aged in his 60s, with short grey hair and is around 6ft. He was wearing black jogging bottoms, black shoes and a dark blue jacket.

Jack Abell, spokesman for Thames Valley Police, said there was nothing to suggest the incident was linked to the Brexit vote.

Anyone with information can call police on 101 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
